“There can be few people who better understand that Parliament is a ‘gentleman’s club’ than Caroline Flint. The Minister for Europe gets more comments about the colour of her lipstick than her views on Lisbon treaty.”

Said Rachel Sylvester and Alice Thomson in The Times on May 23 from their high horses. Perhaps it is just as well. One of those rare Lisbon questions came in committee from Tory Mark Francois, who asked Flint about the impact of the treaty.

She said “I have read some of it, but not all of it.” As MPs on the committee gasped in disbelief, she reassured them, “I have been briefed on some of it.”

Well that says it all. Mind you I have just seen Cameron speak to certain members of the EU right wing, and he is so Euro sceptic, thats frightening
